Rising in tandem with global markets, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 167 points, or 1 percent, to 16,877, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange added 63 points, or 1.3 percent, to 5,076. Stock markets in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore gained between 0.7 percent and 1.8 percent.
