After erasing most of its intra-day gains, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange closed 122 points, or 0.7 percent higher, at 17,823, following the presentation of the Union Budget, today. Earlier in the day, hecting buying had lifted the Sensex nearly 600 points, as investors cheered the budget proposals, before profit-booking pared gains. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 30 points, or 0.6 percent, to 5,333. Other regional markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore ended mixed.
