Recovering smartly from initial losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange had surged 213 points, or 1 percent, to 21,108 in afternoon trade, a short while ago. Earlier in the morning, the Sensex had fallen 15 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 20,879, on mild selling by funds, amid weak Asian markets. The 30-share Sensex had lost nearly 345 points in the previous two trading sessions.Stock indices in Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea had declined between 0.1 percent and 0.8 percent, today, ahead of key US economic data and the European Central Bank's policy meeting. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average had ended 0.8 per cent higher in yesterday's trade.
