The Sensex and the Nifty today gained more than half a per cent in the afternoon trade. The two key domestic share indices appreciated amid mixed global cues. The Sensex was trading above the 52,000 mark. The Nifty was above the 15,500 level.

The Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange climbed 308 points, or 0.59 per cent, to trade at 52,130. The Nifty at National Stock Exchange was trading 101 points, or 0.65 per cent, up to trade at 15,514, when reports last came in.
