22 senior Cricketers in Sri Lanka finally signed the new annual contract with the Cricket Board today ending a crisis that threatened to disrupt the upcoming series against Bangladesh. Mahela Jayawardene could not sign since he is out of the country. The selectors will now name the squad for the Test against Bangladesh starting later this week. The players had earlier rejected the revised terms of contract that denied them 25 per cent of the guarantee money they receive for participation in any ICC event and slashed payments for the time the players participate in the Indian Premiere League. The players relented on Sunday night after new Chairman of Selection Committee Sanath Jayasurya talked to them and impressed upon the need to reconsider their stand in face of financial crisis faced by the Sri Lankan Cricket Board.
