In Maharashtra, with only four days left for the assembly elections, campaigning is at its peak. Top leaders from different political parties are busy touring the state and wooing the electorate. Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi will be campaigning in Panvel, Pune, Aurangabad and Shahada in Nandurbar district. Star campaigners of other parties are also campaigning in different parts of the state on Thursday. NCP Chief Sharad Pawar will be touring western Maharashtra while Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel will participate in road shows at Mumba Devi and Goregaon in Mumbai. Former BJP President Venkaiah Naidu will campaign at Patan in Satara and Chandrapur district. MNS Chief Raj Thackeray will address rallies at various places in Pune while Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray will be campaigning in Nashik district. BJP General Secretary Gopinath Munde and Heavy Industries Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will address rallies in different places of Sangli district.NCP state President R R Patil will campaign at Aeroli and Goregaon in Mumbai while Shiv Sena spokesperson Neelam Ghore will be touring Nanded and Kolhapur districts. Campaigning in Maharashtra has also spiced up with several actors participating in rallies and road shows for various candidates contesting in the polls. The presence of actors has brought glamour to the rallies and it is also acting as crowd puller.The Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Chavan, BJP General Secretary Mr. Gopinath Munde, Shivsena Executive President-Mr. Uddhav Thackeray and NCP-MP Mrs. Supriya Sule addressed election rallies for the candidates in different constituencies of the region. Criticising the Democratic Front Government Mr. Thackeray said that the State government has failed to curb inflation and remained a mute spectator when thousands of farmers were committing suicide. While addressing an election rally in Sillod of Aurangabad district, Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Chavan argued that the Maharashtra Government had freed 78 lakhs farmers from the burden of re-payment of loans and also declared Rs. 5 thousands crores package for the farmers. Meanwhile, many political heavy weights including AICC General Secretary Mr.Rahul Gandhi, NCP President Mr. Sharad Pawar Chief Minister Mr. Ashok Chavan, Senior CPM leader Mrs.Vrunada Karat and BJP General Secretary Gopinath Munde will be addressing election rallies today in various assembly segments in Maratwada region. Political parties are also using road shows. Pad yatras, SMS messages and recorded telephone messages to garner support in their favour. Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar says, farmers in Maharashtra would be able to avail loans at four per cent interest rate if Congress-NCP alliance is voted to power in the state. Addressing an election rally in Sholapur he said that the alliance in its combined manifesto for the Assembly polls has promised that the farmers will get loans on four per cent rate of interest. He asked the people to vote for the alliance so that slew of schemes announced by Centre for the development of the state could be retained.
