Senior Pakistani politician killed in London

A senior politician from Pakistan Dr Imran Farooq was murdered in London. He was deputy leader of the Muttahida Quami Movement, MQM, and was attacked in Green Lane, Edgware, outside his home on Thursday. The Metropolitan Police said, the 50-year-old leader died after suffering multiple stab wounds and head injuries. The news has caused shock in Pakistan. The MQM has declared a 10-day mourning period and violence has been reported in Karachi, with cars being set alight and guns fired across the city. Hundreds of MQM activists have converged on Mr Farooq's family home in the centre of Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan and the main base of support for the Muttahida Quami Movement.
