Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah was today sworn in as new Chief Minister of Karnataka. Mr. Siddaramaiah replaces Jagdish Shettar of the BJP. He was the only person who was administered oath of office and secrecy by the Governor H R Bhardwaj.
Senior Congress lateders were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Later, Mr. Siddaramaiah held a meeting with the top brass of administration and police and took stock of the situation.
The new Chief Minister is scheduled to come to New Delhi to hold discussions with the party leadership on the formation of the council of Ministers. Congress swept the polls in the recenly held Assembly elections defeating BJP.
