Pakistan's Senate Standing Committee on sports and culture has summoned PCB officials and national selectors on July 9 to explain why Younus Khan was ignored for the tour of England. Senate committee Chairman Ghaffar Qureshi confirmed the hearing has been scheduled for July 9 as there has been a lot of criticism over the selection of the touring squad. This is not the first time that the PCB officials and selectors have been summoned by the Senate. Mr Qureshi said there appeared to be no logic behind theselection of players and there was also plenty of controversyover the way the squad was announced and why some selectors were not involved in the selection process. Two senators and members of the Senate committee HumayunAkhtar and Tariq Azeem have already moved an application for a privilege motion to be filed against PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt in the Senate. Akhtar and Azeem filed the privilege motion after Butt hinted they were pressurising him to approve and clear an outstanding bill running into millions of rupees of the contractor who built a new enclosure at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
