Seminar on preventing violence against women and girls

Lok Sabha Speaker, Mrs. Meira Kumar, will inaugurate a Seminar for Asian Parliamentarians on preventing and responding to violence against women and girls in New Delhi on Thursday.

The Seminar will deliberate on various issues relating to violence against women and girls, including legislations on it. Eminent parliamentarians and panelists from UN offices, human rights advocacy groups, judiciary and government establishments will make presentations at the Seminar.

An Indian parliamentary delegation, consisting of 10 members, will attend the Seminar. Around 150 participants, including parliamentarians and observers, will attend the Seminar.

Delegations from Afghanistan, Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Iran, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand have already arrived in Delhi to attend the Seminar.
