Seminar on ‘Defeating Terrorism: the Sri Lankan Experience’ begins in Colombo

The three day military seminar on ‘Defeating Terrorism: the Sri Lankan Experience’ started on Tuesday in Colombo with the participation of 41 countries. Two years after the military victory of the security forces over the LTTE, the Sri Lankan Army is all set to share its military experience with the international community in defeating terrorism. Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa gave an overall perspective of the war, tactics and dealing with humanitarian operations during the Eelam War IV. He also highlighted the predominance of the political will in achieving the desired success. The UN Experts’ Panel Report , which was released last month have recommended a setting up of an independent international investigation in the alleged war crimes committed during the last stage of the war with the LTTE.
