The Union Minister for Home affairs Mr.P.Chidambaram has said that members of Self Help Groups should venture into starting micro enterprises instead of traditional toy making. Launching 20 branches of REPCO BANK and REPCO 40 Plus from Chennai on Saturday, Mr.Chidambaram said that the concept of Self Help Groups was not meant just for basic income but also for National Development. The Minister also underlined the need for women to make use of the opportunity since Self Help groups have not only enhanced the status of women but also have empowered them to a great extent.
