The process of selecting members for the National Medical Commission began in New Delhi. It aims at improving access to quality and affordable medical education and ensuring the availability of adequate and quality medical professionals in the country. <br />''<br />''Twenty-five members of the 33-member Commission enacted by Parliament this year, were selected in the presence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan today. <br />''<br />''Nineteen of the 25 elected members were selected by media personnel through a lottery system. 10 members are Vice Chancellors of state Universities and nine are representatives from State Medical Councils. <br />''<br />''The remaining 8 members of the Commission, will be chosen by a search committee on the 18th of this month. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Harsh Vardhan described the Commission as a historic reform in medical education.<br />''<br />
