Seemandhra turns up in good numbers for last LS polls of undivided state

In Andhra Pradesh, people in Seemandhra region turned up in good numbers today as the last general elections of the undivided state got underway this morning.

Bhanwar Lal said about 15 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the first two hours of polling in 25 Lok Sabha constituencies. The highest 21 per cent voting was in Chittoor district and the lowest 10.5 per cent in East Godavari.

Voting is also on for 175 Assembly constituencies of the Seemandhra region.

AIR Hydrabad coreespondent reports that the polling, which was delayed for some time due to technical snags, was restored immediately after replacement of EVMs.

Police dispersed clashing activists of two political parties in Kadapa and Guntur districts to ensure smooth polling. Polling will continue till 6AM except in 8 Assembly constituencies where it will come to a close at 5.00 PM. The polling will conclude at 4 PM in 2 segments in the Maoist affected areas.
