Telugu Desam Party members from Seemandhra region of Andhra Pradesh, today staged a Dharna at Parliament complex on Statehood issue. Party members from the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, raised slogans in support of United Andhra. They demanded that the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill be withdrawn.
Meanwhile the Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for an hour soon after it met in the morning with members from Telangana region obstructing the proceedings. The sloganeering members from the region across the party lines, thronged speaker’s podium.
They raised slogans against the passage of resolution rejecting State Reorganisation Bill by voice vote, alleging that the House was dominated by Seemandhra people. The Assembly was to take up discussion on the Vote-on-Account which was tabled day before yesterday. Amidst din, Speaker N. Manohar adjourned the House for an hour.
Meanwhile, protests continued against the state bifurcation in 13 districts of Seemandhra region today.
