Secy Kerry first among int'l leaders to call EAM Swaraj

US Secretary of State John Kerry called his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj late last night.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson today said that both leaders discussed re-energising Indo-US ties.

During the call, the focus was on enhancing trade and economic ties to 500 billion US dollars.

Mrs. Swaraj emphasised on the importance India gives to strengthening the international partnership.

She also briefed Kerry on India's engagement with the SAARC countries, including Pakistan.

The spokesperson said, Kerry is the first among the international leaders to call Mrs. Swaraj, after she took over the External Affairs Ministry.
