In Manipur, as the Assembly poll date draws nearer, political parties are trying hard to woo the voters in their constituencies. Security has been tightened across the state and armed forces personnel can be seen patrolling on the streets. Check-points and barricades have been set up at various crucial points in the state to avert any untoward incident. Extensive checking of all the vehicles is being done at the main entry and exit points of the state.Campaigning is picking up in Bishnupur district, which has six assembly seats. Moirang seat is witnessing a straight fight while Bishnupur, Nambol, Thanga, Kumbi and Oinam assembly constituencies are poised to see multi-corner contests. Moirang constituency holds great importance as it has the second largest number of voters among the 60 assembly constituencies. In Moirang constituency, there is much at stake for both the Congress and the NCP. The Congress candidate, who is also the sitting MLA, is leaving no stone unturned to repeat his success.On the other hand, the NCP candidate is poised to give a tough fight to the ruling party. The campaigning has seen a flag war between the CPI and the Congress in Kumbi assembly constituency. All the parties are raising the issues of corruption, insurgency and development to get the voters on their side. However, it is up to the people to make the right choice for themselves.
