<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">In Jammu and Kashmir, the security has been tightened in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch amid protests against the grant of Scheduled Tribe status to the Pahari community. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the internet services were also suspended in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch to prevent any untoward incident. After the Parliament gave nod to the grant of Scheduled Tribe status to the Pahari community in J&amp;K, authorities on Wednesday imposed restrictions on Internet and mob gathering in Poonch and Rajouri districts. The NC leader Omar Abdullah was stopped from proceeding to Sunderbani to address a party meeting.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><br />''</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Parliament on Tuesday passed the grant of scheduled tribe (ST) status to the Pahari community living in different parts of J&amp;K. The Gujjar and Bakerwal communities have the Scheduled Tribe (ST) status with 9 per cent reservation in government jobs. Both these communities have opposed the grant of ST status to Paharis claiming that they would cut into their reservations and that the Paharis are a prosperous community in the Union Territory. Along with the Paharis, Parliament has passed the bill granting ST status to Padari tribe, Kolis and Gadda Brahmins of the UT. The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha appealed to people to not fall for any misinformation being spread by miscreants.</p>
