Adequate security measures are being taken in Guwahati and Shillong for the upcoming 12th South Asian Games which will begin on the 5th of next month. A press release issued in Guwahati last night said that Air Force and the Army Defence Unit protection will be provided at games venues.Over 11 thousand security personnel will be deployed at Guwahati. AIR correspondent reports that central security forces will be deployed under the overall command of state police. The ultimate responsibility of security has been entrusted with Assam and Meghalaya Director General of Police. Meanwhile, in view of the event, the use of UAV and Unmanned Aircraft System, Helium balloons or any kind of flying activity is completely banned from Borjhar to Khanapara stretch in Guwahati.
