Security has been tightened in the National capital for the Republic day celebrations as inteligence have warned of possible terror attacks. A ground-to-air security apparatus will be put in place following inputs that the LeT is reported to have acquired over 50 para-gliding equipment which could be used to launch an air-borne suicide attack.<br/><br/>Over 15,000 security personnel along with CCTV cameras will be placed on the parade route for maintaining a tight vigil. Mobile teams, anti-aircraft guns and sharpshooters of the National Security Guards will also deployed at various places to keep a watch on anti social elements.<br/><br/>The route from Vijay Chowk to India Gate has already been sealed . Giving details of traffic and security arrangements Special Joint Police Commissioner Ajay Chadda said that a multi-layer security ring will be put in place at Rajpath, where President Pratibha Patil will unfurl the tricolour and take the salute of marching contingents.<br/><br/> AIR correspondent reports that patrolling in crowded market areas has been intensified and checking and frisking in Metro trains, railway stations and bus terminals tightened. Security at the IGI airport was also strengthened in coordination with the CISF. Checking and frisking have also been intensified at all entry points with police setting up barricades to keep a vigil on all those entering the capital.
