Security tightened for Republic Day celebrations

<br/>Security has been tightened in the National capital for Republic day celebrations as intelligence agencies have warned of possible terror attacks. <br/><br/>A ground-to-air security apparatus will be put in place following inputs that the LeT is reported to have acquired over 50 sets of para-gliding equipment which could be used to launch an air-borne suicide attack. <br/><br/>Over 15,000 security personnel along with CCTV cameras will be placed on the parade route for maintaining a tight vigil. <br/><br/>Mobile teams, anti-aircraft guns and sharpshooters of the National Security Guards will also be deployed at various places to keep a watch on anti social elements.<br/><br/>Giving details of traffic and security arrangements Special Joint Police Commissioner Ajay Chadha said that a multi-layer security ring will be put its place at Rajpath, where President Pratibha Patil will unfurl the tri- colour and take the salute of marching contingents.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that patrolling in crowded market areas has been intensified and passengers are being thoroughly checked and frisked at Metro trains, railway stations and bus terminals.<br/><br/>Security at the IGI airport was also strengthened in coordination with the CISF. Checking and frisking have also been intensified at all entry points to the capital with police erecting barricades to keep a vigil on all those entering Delhi.<br/>
