In Sri Lanka, the police have increased security in capital Colombo as the Supreme Court prepares to hear a legal challenge to the arrest of the losing Presidential candidate General Fonseka. The General was arrested on Monday on conspiracy chages provoking clashes between his supporters and those of his political rival the Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa. The United States, the European Union and the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon have urged the Srilankan President to respect the legal process.
