Security has been beefed up throughout the country especially in Uttar Pradesh. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that security forces carried flag march in sensitive areas yesterday. In the twin city Ayodhya and Faizabad, about 74 companies of central Para military forces and state police have been deployed. State government has also pressed three helicopters into service for keeping a close vigil on the roof-tops, narrow lanes and other places in the sensitive areas. A control room has also been set-up at the Director General of Police office so that people can apprise police about any important or confidential information regarding untoward incidents. Ban on bulk cell phone text messaging is still continuing.In Andhra Pradesh, four companies of Rapid Action Force have been deployed in Hyderabad. DGP K Aravinda Rao said about 40 to 50 towns have been identified as sensitive and all precautions have been taken to maintain communal harmony there.In Kerala, over 30,000 police personnel including rapid action, anti-sabotage and strike forces and bomb squad would be deployed from midnight tonight across the state. Prohibitory orders have already been issued for the next two days in Kozhikode, Kannur and Alappuzha districts. Maharashtra government has taken extra security measures to tackle any adverse situation. Security has been stepped up, and closed circuit television cameras have been set up outside the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. Adequate security has been mounted outside important places of worship in Mumbai and suburbs of the city. Police will remain on high alert in some sensitive cities and towns of the state like Aurangabad, Nashik, Malegaon and Bhiwandi.In Madhya Pradesh, additional police forces have been deployed in major towns and CCTV cameras have been placed at sensitive places to keep vigil.High alert has been sounded in Karnataka. Prohibitory order under section 144 has been imposed till Saturday night. Schools and Colleges will remain closed today and tomorrow. More than 50,000 civil police, 200 platoons of Karnataka Reserve Police and 12000 Home Guards have been deployed in the state to meet any eventuality.In Tamil Nadu, prohibitory orders have been promulgated and processions, public meetings have been banned throrought the state. Eight places in the state including Coimbatore, Tirupur, Vellore, Hosur, Tiruchy have been identified as sensitive areas.
