Security forces are deployed in all sensitive areas of old locality of Allahabad of Uttar Pradesh to maintain peace and law and order. Curfew was lifted today from the Kotwali police area after about 12 hours of its imposition. School colleges are remaining closed for today. Curfew was clamped on Friday night following stray incidents of violent protests against the ethnic strife in Assam and Myanmar.AIR Allahabad correspondent reports that FIR has been lodged against several persons, including 10 named, for their alleged involvement into arson, stone pelting and damaging public and private properties. About 16 persons have been arrested for so far in this connection.Alert has been issued to security persons. Markets have deserted look in the areas where violent protest had taken place yesterday. Trouble began when a procession was being taken out by a section of people in old localities of the town after Alvida Namaz. However, policemen deployed in the area objected to the procession, the agitators allegedly reacted strongly and tried to proceed with the procession with some of them indulging in heavy stone-pelting caused damage to a number of shops in the vicinity and vehicles parked nearby. The security forces, including RAF, have been deployed in most of the old localities of the town.Similarly, the protest march in the state capital Lucknow after the Alvida Namaz turned violent as a group of people, shouting slogans, resorted to stone pelting and vandalism. When the RAF and PAC tried to stop them they indulged in brick batting damaging public properties and vehicles. Lucknow Superintendent of Police said adequate security arrangements had been made to maintain peace and no arrests had been done till now.Meanwhile, seven hours relaxation in curfew given was given today in all areas of Prem Nagar, Kotwali, Quila and Baradari police stations in Bareilly district from 5 am to 12 pm. No untoward incident is reported from any party of troubled areas as well as from other parts of the town during curfew relaxation.
