Security put of high alert for I-day celebrations in Assam

In Assam, security has been placed on a high alert to foil any attempt of the banned outfits in the run-up to the Independence Day celebrations in the State. Intelligence coordination and security checking have been intensified across the State. Additional security guards have been placed on duty to monitor the activities of the militant organizations. The North-East Frontier Railway has suspended operation of passenger trains during night hours from 6.00 p.m. of 13th August to 5.00 a.m. of 17th August in the entire Assam area due to security threats. During these days, journey of as many as 36 trains have been cancelled and 18 trains short-terminated in different stations.
