In Assam, security has been placed on high alert in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and other neighbouring districts following threat perception by the anti-talk faction of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB). According to police sources, the security has been stepped up along the railway tracks in Kokrajhar, Udalguri, Sonitpur and Bongaigaon districts apprehending more underground activities. Round-the-clock vigil is being maintained in as many as 45 railway culverts. Security of Government installations and public places has been reviewed. Mobile checks on vehicles and random patrolling have been intensified to foil any attempt of violence and sabotage by the militant group. The step has been taken following intelligence inputs that a strong contingent of NDFB cadres was taking shelter in a few inaccessible hideouts in some vulnerable pockets with the aim of carrying out subversive activities in the area.
