Security forces toil to ensure violence free elections in Manipur

In Manipur, police and security forces are continuing their operations to flush out militants from the valley areas of the state. Police raided several suspected areas and search operations were conducted in the four valley districts for smooth conduct of the forthcoming state assembly elections.AIR Imphal correspondent reports that in view of the sudden spurt of election related violence, police and security forces have intensified search operations at suspected locations across the state. State Inspector General of Police (Operations) L K Haokip told that such operations will continue till the polling of the state assembly elections is over.Police sources said, the houses of five Congress workers were attacked with gunshots last night in Imphal East while one Congress worker was kidnapped in the hill district of Tamenglong. Manipur goes to poll on the 28th of this month and election campaign will end tomorrow at 4 PM.
