Security forces launch massive search operation to rescue abducted officials in Assam

In Assam, security forces have launched a massive search operation in Singhasan hills of Karbi Anglong district to rescue abducted Chief Conservator of Forest Abhijeet Rabha and the Range Forest Officer Ranjan Baruah from the militants. Suspected Karbi Peoples’ Liberation Tiger, KPLT ultras waylaid the officers blocking the road by blazing some trees and kidnapped both of them at gun-point from Budlok area of Singhasan hills under Manja Police station yesterday afternoon when they were returning to headquarter at Diphu.Rabha, an Indian Forest Service officer, along with two Japanese experts and other forest officials went to the Singhasan hills to conduct survey of some medicinal plants. Other members of the group, however, returned safely. Police said the militants have demanded one crore rupees as ransom for the release of the kidnapped officers.
