Three suspected United Liberation Front of Assam, ULFA, militants have been gunned down by security forces during an encounter at Namsai along Assam-Arunachal border last night.
Two pistols, one grenade and a motor cycle have been recovered from the possession of slain militants.
According to official sources, the encounter took place when the militants went to collect the extortion ransom demanded by them from some local people in the area.
In another incident, police arrested two militants of Garo National Liberation Army, GNLA, from Boko area in Kamrup district of Assam.
