In Assam, three militants belonging to the anti-talk faction of the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) were gunned down by security forces in an encounter at Surendrapur under Gossaingaon police station in Kokrajhar district this evening. One AK-56 rifle, two nine m.m. pistol, one grenade and some live ammunition were recovered from the slain militants. The militants are yet to be identified. AIR Guwahati Correspondent reports that the Unified Command comprising Army, Paramilitary forces and the State Police has intensified its anti-insurgency operation. The step has been taken following the decision of yesterday’s meeting at Guwahati of the Unified Command that was chaired by the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
