In Jammu and Kashmir, one militant was gunned down by security forces in an encounter today in the border district of Poonch. According to official sources, acting on a tip-off on the presence of militants, the Army and police last evening launched a search operation in 'Chamrera Ki Gali' forest area of Bafliaz in Surankote Tehsil. Seeing the patrol party, the militants opened fire which was retaliated. The Forces had halted the operation last night due to darkness and resumed it early this morning and in the ensuing gun battle, one militant was gunned down. Two Chinese grenades, one UBGL, two pouches, two AK magazines were recovered from the slain militant whose identity is yet to be ascertained. AIR correspondent reports, the area has been cordoned off and search operations are on as two or three more militants are believed to be hiding in the area.
