Security forces exchange fire with militants in Kupwara

In Jammu & Kashmir, the encounter that triggered between militants and security forces today afternoon, was underway in Gadoora village of south Kashmir's Pulwama district. Three to four militants were believed to be trapped in the area.<br/><br/>Similarly, the cordon and search operation was launched today in north Kashmir's Kupwara district following specific information about the presence of some militants. Reports said the brief encounter triggered when security forces advanced in the forest area of Dardpora in Lolab where three to four militants were believed to be hiding.<br/><br/>The additional reinforcement of security forces was rushed to the area to assist in combing operation. PRO Defence told AIR that the operations were underway in both the areas in Kashmir valley.

Security forces exchange fire with militants in Kupwara

Security forces today launched a search operation in a village in north Kashmir's Kupwara district following a brief exchange of fire with militants. A police official said that a brief exchange of fire took place between security forces and militants at Shiekhpura in Lalpora area of Kupwara district, 100 kms from Srinagar. He said while no casualties were reported in the brief firing, security forces have launched search operations in the area to track down the militants. Additional troops have been rushed to the area to prevent the ultras from fleeing the cordon, he added.
