In Orissa , at least six Maoists have been killed in a fierce gunbattle with security forces in Orissa's Koraput district. The police sources said senior officers engaged in the anti-Maoist operation in a forest of Podapadar area in Narayanpatna.<br/>Earlier reports said at least 10 Maoists being killed in the encounter. However the police said they are yet to recover bodies. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also told reporters in Bhubaneswar that police believe that some Maoists have been killed and injured during the encounter with security forces. <br/>Police sources said that a chopper has been pressed into service to conduct aerial search. A massive combing operation has also been conducted in the entire area <br/>The encounter took place on Saturday night, after a joint team of Orissa police, elite Greyhound force of Andhra Pradesh and BSF spotted some armed ultras near a hilly area. The rebels opened fire seeing the police who promptly retaliated. Police said the number of ultras engaged in the encounter is yet to be ascertained.<br/>In Jharkhand, security forces have recovered arms and ammunition after a gun battle with suspected ultras of the People's Liberation Front of India in Khunti district.<br/>
