Security forces clamped traffic restrictions on Jammu-Srinagar highway to foil BJP's youth wing yatra to unfurl the national flag at the Lal Chowk, Srinagar on the Republic day tomorrow. Party senior leaders Mr. Arun Jaitley, Mrs Sushma Swaraj and Mr. Ananth Kumar who trooped to Jammu to take command of the yatra were not allowed to come out from Jammu airport and late last night they were driven to Madhopur Punjab and dropped there. BJP has described the development as unfortunate and said the yatra was not aimed against any political party, state government or the Centre, but it was planned to give a tough signal to Separatists. In State wide raids, more than 1500 BJP workers were detained at different places. Over 500 BJP workers from Ahmedabad, Gujarat were taken into preventive custody at Vijaypur from Senath Express. Reports reaching from Kathua said that thousands of BJP and BJYM activists have reached near Madhopur in Punjab where the rally is being organized today. Authorities however have sealed all the entry points from Punjab and Himachal to Jammu & Kashmir. Our correspondent reports that high deployment of the security forces and police has been made at Lakhanpur which has also been converted into a makeshift Police Headquarter. Rashtriya Janta Dal Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has said BJP is taking political mileage out of the situation.
