In Jammu and Kashmir, Security Forces on Wednesday averted a major tragedy by busting a militant hide out and recovering a large quantity of arms and ammunition from border district of Poonch.According to Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch, Mr. Ashkoor Wani, acting on a specific information, Police and Security Forces launched search operations in Khet area of Mandi, during which they came across a militant hideout from which they recovered ten hand grenades, one AK 74 rifle, two magazines, 65 AK rounds, two detonators and one pouch.He said that the consignment was probably to be used by militants to disrupt the forthcoming Republic Day celebrations in the border district.The Senior Police officer said that with a view to ensure peaceful Republic Day celebrations, search operations have been launched and security has been tightened in the entire district.
