Security beefed up in Iraq after bomb attacks

Security has been tightened in Iraq a day after deadly bomb attacks, which killed more than 130 people and injured more than 600. Iraqi government blamed Al-Qaeda and supporters of Saddam Hussein's banned Baath Party for the attack. The injured are being treated in different hospitals of the city and a three-day national mourning is being observed for the victims. US President Barack Obama led international condemnation and offered his condolences by telephone to both President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. In the deadliest attack a large number of civilian vehicles were set ablaze damaging several buildings. The explosive-laden vehicles were parked in parking garages next to the Justice Ministry and the Baghdad provincial administration buildings in al-Salehiya region in central Baghdad. Iraqi Prime minister Nouri al Maliki said in a statement that these cowardly terrorist attacks must not affect the determination of the Iraqi people to continue their struggle against the remnants of the dismantled regime and Al-Qaeda terrorists.
