In Jammu and Kashmir, tight security arrangements have been put in place ahead of annual pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine to ensure a safe and orderly pilgrimage. This was stated by Inspector General of Police, IGP, Jammu Zone Dilbagh Singh while talking to media persons after inaugurating a day-long health care camp for the jawans of Railway Police in Jammu today. He said that security is being reviewed in time to time meetings and so far all arrangements have been made.
The IGP said that various agencies are keeping a watch on suspicious movements and efforts are being made to provide hassle free yatra for the pilgrims. He said that about 30 militants are still active in Jammu region but expressed the hope that Police with assistance from Army will soon make Jammu province a militancy free zone.
