In Assam, security has been intensified on the eve of Durga puja to avert any possible threat of anti-talk faction of ULFA. Speaking to AIR, State Law and Order I G P L R Bishnoi said that ULFA had acquired remote control IED which can be operated with satellite phone.

Security forces seized a few such sophisticated equipments in Jorhat recently. Bishnoi said that police and security agencies have been instructed to look out for satellite operated bomb as ULFA may use it.

Meanwhile, puja committees have been instructed to install CCTV cameras in the Durga Puja pandals. Apart from it, committees should make provision of round the clock generator service. No volunteers should be engaged without the authentication of local police station.
