President Mrs Pratibha Devisingh Patil has cautioned the Navy of increased security concerns of the country in the international waters. Addressing the 10th fleet review of the Supreme Commander of Forces of Mumbai coast today, the President said secured coast was necessary for the economic development of the country.
Elaborating India's interest in the deep sea, Mrs. Patil said all exploration in the south sea was of vital importance to the country. She asserted that the maximum amount of foreign trade was carried through the sea lanes and, therefore, it become imperative for the Navy to tackle the menace of piracy in the neighbouring areas. Applauding the Navy for its counter piracy measure, the President reminded them of their increased responsibility.
