Secretary for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Pankaj Jain calls for enhanced partnership between India and Sri Lanka in energy sector

In an interaction with the Business community in Sri Lanka on 24th March 2023, Friday, the Secretary for Petroleum and Natural Gas in Government of India, Pankaj Jain called for enhanced partnership between India and Sri Lanka in the energy sector. Mr. Jain is leading a delegation to Sri Lanka where he is scheduled to visit several prospective energy projects. He said both countries can learn and share from each other. He added that the collaboration between the two countries can be very fruitful as it will be built on mutual trust for each other.<br />'' <br />''He said in the current age of energy transitions, there is a need for learning of newer technologies much faster and said that in this direction partnerships will matter. Mr Jain said that commonality of interests matters for India and Sri Lanka and said the two countries need to work together on joint exploration.<br />''The Secretary said that the two countries need to explore renewable energy sources as well as understanding newer molecules like green hydrogen, ammonia and compressed biogas. He said development of Trincomalee as an energy hub is a great opportunity as it has potential of Conventional and renewable energy projects. He said the partnership between India and Sri Lanka will require collaboration, experience sharing and joint ventures involving entrepreneurs and companies.<br />'' <br />''Mr. Jain spoke about the success of India Energy week held last month in Bengaluru and said that the event will be held next year in Goa.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">On the occasion, three new fuel stations of Lanka IOC were commissioned by virtual mode.</span><br />
