In Kerala, secret chambers of historical Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram have been opened on Monday in the presence of Supreme Court appointed observers. Two of the secret underground chambers close to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple are believed to contain priceless gold, silver ornaments, precious stones and antique value articles. These chambers to be opened on coming Friday are closed for the last 136 years. The observers include former high court judges and representative of state government, Travancore palace and archeological department. The apex court has recently directed to open the secret chambers and prepare an inventory of items in a case relating to the temple. The temple is run by a trust floated by the Travancore royal house.
