Second Green revolution in Eastern India scheme to increase rice production: Agri Min Pawar

The Centre is to spend one thousand crore rupees in the current financial year to increase rice production in the eastern states. Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha today, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said the amount will be spent under the scheme called Second Green Revolution in Eastern India. Mr. Pawar said Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are being advised to change their cropping pattern to maintain the quality of soil which is being adversely affected because of excessive use of fertilizers and over production of rice and wheat
