The second and final phase of census 2011 gathering the details of every resident of the country will start tomorrow. President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil l released a postage stamp on Census 2011 at Rashtrapati bhawan this evening. Home Minister Chidambaram and Census Commissioner Chandamoli were among those present. Addressing the gathering, Chidambaram said the Census will reflect the socio – Economic condition of the people. AIR correspondent Vinayak Dutt reports that an army of teachers, anganwadi workers , Ration Officers as well as civil and state government employees will go from house to house gathering details in the 2nd phase of Census. The nearly three-week-long exercise, will end on 28th of this month providing a first-hand data on the demography and population of the country. Details like literacy level, marital status, disability and woman's fertility will be recorded for the first time. Apart from using modern technology like GIS to mark houses, more comprehensive questions have been framed to gather an exhaustive data. Citizens will have to answer 26 queries in all this time.The second phase of population enumeration of Census of India 2011 will commence in Mizoram along with the rest of the country tomorrow.Director of Census Operations addressed a press conference in state capital Aizawl this morning to brief the media about preparations for the second phase of enumeration. About 2,250 enumerators and 450 Supervisors, mostly drawn from school teachers across Mizoram, have been deployed for the task.
