Second edition of ASEAN-India car rally flags off from Indonesia

The second edition of the ASEAN-India car rally was flagged off in the historic city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia on monday. A total of 124 participants from 11 countries are participating in the 22-day sojourn, covering almost 8000kms. Jointly organised by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Confederation of Indian Industry and all ASEAN nations, the rally will demonstrate the close civilisational links with ASEAN countries.After the flag-off by a host of Indian and Indonesian dignitaries, which will be marked by a cultural performance from both countries, including a Manipuri dance troupe, the Indonesian leg will cover a distance of 134 kms from Yogyakarta to Surakarta via Borobudur.The rally will flag-down on December 17 in Guwahati. The year 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of ASEAN-India dialogue relations.
