US President Barack Obama asserted that a second depression is no longer possible because of the steps taken to revive the economy. A year after he signed stimulus legislation, pumping billions of dollars into the country's economy to tide over a recession, Obama said, thanks to the recovery act, a second depression is no longer a possibility. He said, its one of the main reasons the economy has gone from shrinking by 6 per cent to growing at about 6 per cent. Obama said on the first anniversary of the signing of the recovery act that 787 billion dollars stimulus was never intended to save every job or restore economy to full strength. Referring to robust manufacturing sector, he said, so far, the recovery act is responsible for the jobs of about 2 million Americans who would otherwise be unemployed. He said no bill or government programme can do that and added that businesses are the true engines of growth and job creation in this country.
