In Puducherry, seat sharing among various political parties are yet to be formalized though filing of nominations will come to a close on Saturday. The Ruling Congress party held several rounds of talks with its principal ally the DMK on seat sharing but a deal is yet to be clinched. AIR correspondent reports that that a deal has been virtually clinched with the congress likely to contest 19 out of 30 seats leaving for the allies including the DMK Senior congress leaders are hopeful a deal may inked in the next 24 hours. The AIADMK general secretary Ms. Jayalalitha has announced the candidates for all the 30 constituencies. However, she said talks with allies are continuing and the party will withdraw candidates in constituencies which are allotted to the allies. The AIADMK has had two rounds of talks with newly floated All India NR Congress headed by former Chief Minister Mr N.Rangaswamy. The left parties, part of the AIADMK front in neighboring Tamil Nadu are hopeful that the opposition front could emerge as talks are progressing. Meanwhile, a total of 10 candidates have filed their nominations for the assembly elections scheduled for the 13th of next month. The Election commission appointed flying squads have been making the rounds of constituencies to ensure that political parties and candidates don’t lure voters with gifts and cash.
