The national capital Delhi received the season's heaviest downpour this morning bringing much needed relief from the scorching heat. Although the rain brought down the mercury levels, but scores of people were left stranded for hours in traffic jams as many parts of the city were waterlogged. Our correspondent reporta that after a hot and humid weekend, rainfall in parts of Delhi had brought much needed relief to people yesterday. The parched city of Delhi was in for an extended treat from the Rain Gods today also. However, the rainfall also brought along with it traffic woes for commuters with waterlogging in several areas. Traffic jams were reported at major intersections including ITO in central Delhi, Ring road, Laxmi Nagar and Mathura road while water logging took place at Bhogal, Delhi Gate,Najafgarh and Adarsh Nagar to Jahangir Puri.The Met office said the city received 54.5 millimeters of rain during the last 24 hours till 8.30 a.m. The sky will remain mainly cloudy today. Some spells of rain are likely in parts of Delhi with some places seeing heavy showers.”
