In Jammu & Kashmir, the joint cordon and search operation of army, para commandos and Special Operations Group (SOG) entered seventh day today to track down hiding militants of an infiltrator group in the north Kashmir's forest areas of Kupwara district. <br/><br/>The search operations have been intensified and cordon extended to around eleven villages (Kashta, Khangund, Shundi, Boinard, Hyhama, Trumnard, Kakadi, Batpora, Sulkoot and Kalaroos) in the district. <br/><br/>More reinforcement of Rashtriya Rifles, Para Commandos, Territorial Army and Special Operations Group personnel have been deployed while helicopters are also being used for surveillance of the areas. No fresh encounter with militants was reported till now.<br/> <br/><br/>Commanding Officer Col Santosh Mahadik died Tuesday in a fierce encounter in Manigah forest area while four Army jawans and a cop of Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police have been injured till now in the operation launched on Friday. <br/><br/>Four militants of Lashkar e Toiba group were reported to have infiltrated into this side of Line of Control on 31st of last month. Of the four, an unidentified militant reportedly died due to chilly cold or by slipping into a gorge in the area.
