Search operation to flush out militants in J&K called off

In Jammu & Kashmir, the relentless cordon and search operation to flush out militants hiding in the north Kashmir's forest areas of Kupwara district, has been called off almost after a month. <br/><br/>The joint anti militancy operation had been started in Manigah forest area on 13th of last month to flush out a group of 3 to 4 militants who had reportedly infiltrated into this side of Line of Control during the intervening night of 30 & 31st of October.<br/><br/>Army sources told AIR that normal anti militancy operations in the Manigah and adjascent areas will continue. During the operation Commanding Officer Colonel Santosh Mahadik was killed.<br/><br/>A Lieutenant Colonel of 160 Battalion of Territorial Army received grievous injuries. Five soldiers and a Special Operations Group cop of J&K Police were also wounded in the operation. One militant was killed in an encounter and another militant of the group was found dead in the jungle probably due to cold weather.
