Search operation in Mahad Bridge collapse continues; 21 bodies recovered so far

NDRF teams have recovered total 21 bodies from Savitri River till now. This river in Mahad town washed away a century-old British era bridge, taking with it two buses and few other vehicles with 42 passengers on Tuesday night. <br/><br/>14 bodies were recovered yesterday. 7 more bodies are recovered today. Bodies are found at various places in Ratnagiri and Raigad Districts on both the banks of the river and also on beaches near the place where this river meets Arabian Sea.<br/><br/>Today search teams have found some parts of vehicles near Visava Hotel around 3 Kilometres from the ill-fated bridge. It is not yet clear that whether they are of vehicles drowned in the river after the bridge collapse on Tuesday night or not. <br/><br/>Heavy Duty Crane is still searching for missing vehicles with the help of Magnet. NDRF jawans have also laid fishing nets in the river to stop bodies flowing away with water current. Search operation will be on till day light is there.<br/><br/>Fishermen are also helping NDRF voluntarily in search operation. NDRF, Navy, Coast Guard Jawans and the fishermen are searching for bodies in 150 kilometres stretch of this river with the help of 16 Boats and 4 Helicopters. Consistent heavy rains and High Tide started from 2 o'clock in the afternoon have made their task more difficult.
